The purpose of a chair's report, written by the group's president, is to reflect on the activity and aims of the group and its individuals. The chair's report is a welcoming look at the activity during the previous year, welcomes new members and new leadership, and reviews the group’s triumphs. Be detailed but brief; describe the biggest achievements with acknowledgements and thanks to everyone involved in those projects. It is always best to conclude with an optimistic view of the upcoming year.
With the above in mind, your report might include:
- Thanks to your members for attendance today and engagement throughout the year
- A look back to the aims and objectives of the student group
- A summary of the group activity during the previous year, reflecting on how they achieve the group’s aims
- Any highlights, big achievements and awards, as well as a couple of challenges and how they were overcome
- Acknowledgement and thanks to any donors, sponsors and affiliations
- Acknowledgement and thanks to the committee for their efforts this year
- Relevant special announcements for the upcoming year, including a welcome to the new exec committee (if elected already)
- An announcement of future initiatives and hopes / well wishes for the way forward
