As mentioned in the previous article, to submit a SAAC appeal, you will need to appeal under one of the below 2 grounds (at this stage appealing on the basis of a decision being "unreasonable" is no longer an option):
1) The Faculty Appeal stage process was not followed correctly
To appeal on this basis, you will need to be able to show exactly which process has not been followed, and how it has not been followed. You will need to provide evidence (you can take a look at our article here on what evidence can be provided) showing where the process has fallen down for your appeal to be considered.
Again, it is important to note that appeals submitted under this ground will only result in a review of the process followed at the Faculty Appeal stage, not a reconsideration of your original case itself. If you are simply unhappy with the outcome, this does not constitute a procedural irregularity.
2) That you have new information that you either were previously unaware of, or were unable to notify the University about during the Faculty Appeal Process
If the information you are presenting is new, then you'll need to include copies of any evidence (again you can find more information on evidence to submit here) that you want to submit with your appeal form, and make it clear when you received the information and that this was not available to you at the time of submitting your Faculty Appeal.
If you are wanting to submit information that you were unable to notify the University about during the Faculty Appeal stage, then again you will need to include a copy of all of the new evidence, along with explaining why you weren't able to provide this during the previous stage of the process.
Please also note that new evidence relating to circumstances already considered at the original Exam Board and/or Faculty stage may not constitute new information if it simply verifies the circumstances that have previously been disclosed.
Regardless of which grounds you are appealing under, you do not need to provide any evidence that has already been submitted during the Faculty Appeal stage, so be sure to only submit new information at this stage.
Please continue reading our next article here to find out what will happen once you submit a SAAC appeal.
