What will happen once I submit a Faculty Appeal and when will I hear the outcome?

Once you submit an appeal form your Faculty has 42 days to consider your appeal, carry out an investigation and notify you of the outcome, so please be mindful of this timeline and allow your Faculty this time to process your appeal.

When an appeal is submitted, the first thing that your Faculty will check is whether your case questions academic judgement (if you're not sure what academic judgement is then this is covered within this article), if they find that your appeal does fall under academic judgement then they may decide not to investigate your case any further and you will be notified of this.

When an appeal is accepted, then your Faculty will consult with various members of University staff (this will vary depending on which grounds you are appealing) and will produce a report on your case which will set out their decision. It is unlikely that you will be asked to attend any meetings or present your case in person, generally, Faculty Appeals are reviewed by the relevant appeals staff only and they will carry out the investigation based on the information and evidence that you provide on your appeal form.

Once the investigation is concluded, you will receive a copy of the report that will provide the outcome of your appeal, along with a file containing all of the documentation that has been considered during the appeal process too.
