How To Deal with a Minor Incident or Near Miss

IN THE STUDENTS UNION

Where an incident, accident or near miss occurs in Dunelm House, please contact the ASK Desk situated on B level during their opening hours (Monday – Saturday 08:00-23:00 and Sundays 13:00-23:00). If first aid is required, they will arrange this for you by finding a qualified first aider either via the staff team or University security. Once the situation has been dealt with by staff members, they will submit a report on the university’s GRaCE reporting system. You may be asked a series of questions to aid in submitting this report.

AWAY FROM THE STUDENTS UNION

In the event of an incident or accident during a student group activity or event outside of the Students’ Union, a trained first aider from your group or a first aider at the venue should attend the injury and make a decision about any further action to be taken. Durham Students' Union should be notified of the situation and any actions taken or plans implemented to deal with the situation. For any minor accidents where no support is needed from the Union and it is only necessary to report the incident/accident, please contact us here.
